Our story

Rooted here.
Still growing.

A family-run public golf course shaped by the land, the people who work here and the community around it.

Since 1974

Before the fairways,
there were fields.

In 1974, brothers Gord and Neil Forth started farming in Copetown, eventually growing hundreds of acres of vegetables and becoming known for broccoli sold under the Barry Broccoli name.

Years later, some of the sandy farmland proved better suited to fairways than vegetables. An idea took shape, construction began in 2002, and Copetown Woods opened in 2003.

Today, the next generation is carrying it forward, with Barry Forth leading Copetown Woods and continuing to grow what his family started more than 50 years ago.

And the broccoli never completely left. Our signature Broccoli Salad remains a Bistro favourite, a small nod to where this place began.

Built through people

A place to start.
A place to grow.

For many employees, CW is a first job. For others, it becomes a place to build confidence, learn leadership, find mentors and eventually help the next group come through.

The guest experience people feel here is created by the people who work here.

Environmental stewardship

Well maintained.
Responsibly cared for.

Copetown Woods believes a well-maintained course and environmental responsibility can strengthen one another. Organic inputs, efficient water use, naturalized areas, staff education and waste diversion all contribute to the way the property is cared for.

Approximately 14 tonnes of green waste are diverted from landfill and reused on the property each year, while naturalized areas create habitat and reduce maintained acreage.

Green practice

Lower-input care

Seaweed kelp extract, molasses, liquid fish and micronutrients help support healthy turf and reduce reliance on pesticides.

Farm to fairway

More meadow

Only a portion of the property is intensively maintained, leaving meaningful space for naturalized habitat.

Everyday habits

It starts with staff

Education and clear waste systems help the entire team participate in the property’s environmental commitments.

What comes next

Growth without losing
what matters.

Our next chapter is focused on making public golf more accessible, sustainable and fun while protecting the character and values that brought Copetown Woods this far.
